Coating Inspection - Dry Film Thickness

REDUCED ELCOMETER LOGO FOR SYNTECH

The most crucial measurement in the coatings industry is Dry Film thickness. Measurements provide the necessary information as to the probable life of the substrate, the product's fitness for purpose and it look and confirms compliance with a multitude of International Standards.

Digital

Elcometer Digital  Coating thickness gauges have been devised to provide highly precise, repeatable and reliable coating thickness readings on almost any surface whether ferrous or non-ferrous

Readings can be taken on magnetic Steel Surfaces or non-magnetic surfaces such as Aluminium or Stainless Steel using a digital coating thickness gauge. The basis of electomagnetic induction is used for non-magnetic coatings on magnetic surfaces such as steel. The eddy current principle is used for non-conductive coatings on non-ferrous  metals surfaces.

Mechanical

Mechanical Coating Thickness Gauges are right for working in high risk situations such as high temperature or flammable environments, underwater or where danger of explosion is high and could be activated by the use of an electronic instrument.

From the modest coating thickness gauge Elcometer 101 that provides quick and immediate results to the Elcometer 211 "banana gauge" idyllic for cold and underwater substrates.

Destructive

Devised for measuring on a non-metallic surface or for evaluating the thickness of a multi-coat paint,  Elcometer offer a selection of destructive coating thickness gauges such as the Elcometer 121/4 amd Elcometer 141 that are compact, portable and easy to use.

Calibration & Standards

Official quality systems, such as those described in ISO 9000, require gauges to be correctly controlled logged and in calibration. More and more,  users are stipulating that the readings taken by gauges are traceable  to National Standards. The coating thickness available from Elcometer are: Calibration foils, coated standards and zero test plates.
